The Texas Judicial Foundation officially began September, 2007. The following is a timeline of events:

September, 2007

Leadership of The Judicial Section of the State Bar of Texas recommends and the judges approve the creation of a foundation to support judicial education; and The Texas Judicial Foundation was created.

January, 2008

Initial organizational meeting of the Board of Trustees

June, 2008

Filing of IRS application for non-profit status

July, 2008

First full Board meeting with initial development of Committees, Advisory Council and Emeritus Board

November, 2008

Board meeting and finalization of Advisory Council and Emeritus Board

February, 2009

IRS approval of non-profit status
Board meeting and approval to hire Executive Director

May, 2009

Texas Comptroller determination of Tax Exemption

August, 2009

Ended first fiscal year with sufficient funds to pay all bills and maintain positive cash flow.
